Give up and declare victory!

Freaky TriggerYes, sometime it is just easy to let it go.
I can remember a lot of times bugging myself down to not giving up.

When you try your best, and still can not get it done... give up and declare the victory!

Into New Year Twenty Ten (2010)

I am watching the live telecast of the lowering the ball ceremony held annually in Times Square, NY.

Colloquially, I think we pronounced whole decade in thousands by saying year Two Thousand One to year Two Thousand Nine.
There are still style in variation in saying "Year Two Thousand Ten" versus "Year Twenty Ten".
Which one sounds better?

As my biased hint:
Which year the first Nobel Prize was awarded?
One thousand Nine hundred one (1901) or Nineteen o One (1901)?

How does Year Twenty o One sounds? Year Two Thousand One?

New Year Resolution 2010

Here comes Twenty Ten. A Happy New Year 2010.
I would like to ask:
Ten years back on the eve of Ninteen Ninety Nine (1999) what were you doing/planning?
Did you have new year resolution back then?

What resolution do you have for this year?

Dumping some bad habit?

Quitting Facebook?
Planning on doing some good work?

at&t: wake up, it is Day Light Savings already

This is my second year with at&t service.
Let me tell you besides multiple dropped calls, when it comes to the day-light savings time at&t is a big FAIL!
I remember that I had written similar story last year...
http://ajabgajab.blogspot.com/2008/11/day-light-savings-what-time-is-it-now.html

Last year, the clock was not re-set till 2/3PM.
The improvement is that the cell is updated at around 11/12 PM. Well, at&t you better update your tower or system at 2AM.

Digg's April Fool's Day Joke?

Digg's April Fool's Day Joke?

How many diggs?
sigma diggs!
where sigma equals 5340 or some arbitrary number. People noticed that only mathematical symbols appear on digg instead of number.

Later I realized that there are alot of stuffs going around.

Do it Google way: Black is Green! Earth Hour: Energy

Today I found that the famous google screen is tinted black in support to the Earth Hour. They have expressed it as "committed to helping build a clean energy future".
This is a great step towards creating awareness. Specially sites like google which dominate over the internet can spread out the message quickly and effectively.
There should be no doubt that renewable energy is the future of all, but it takes time for us to realize that we have come this far and have become resource hungry. We need engergy, but wiseful use of it can save a bit. A bit from everyone at the same time will collect as bunch!
I don't exactly know whether putting the lights off for one hour makes some significant change, but it will cetrainly have some nice impact.
Thumbs up google!

I am planning to write on "what makes difference ?"(its a plan).

Spring Started!

Spring Started!

It was so nice outside that I walked all the way to the University. There are traces of the snow piles, lying around and trying to survive the heat. Ultimately, they have to melt.

The weather forecast works! It works because they keep it updated.
They had predicted it to be such nice weather compared to freezing one last week.

With the arrival of Spring, Spring fever will hypnotize people for a while by now. People will get out of their air-tightened apartments and dwell in grass. Walk in the open land and feel the fresh air.

So, finally the snow seasons of winter is gone. Everyone looks cheered.
I have to say that this winter was a mild one. Not too much drop in minimum temperature. Some people say that it used to be very very cold. Is it the matter of discussion under the global warming?

Empty Chairs in Dining Room ...

Empty Chairs in Dining Room ...

I had stayed in DD's place for nearly 7+ years.
It was just like being a part of that family. I had been to my family for seventeen years before that.
In DD's place we had set up chairs and tables for six of us. and the chairs were pretty much fixed. Everyone had got the chair. When I came to USA, one of the chairs were empty. Always!
That makes me sentimental.
Moreover, When I was back in my Native place with my family, I used to give turn to my father (Ba)for dinner. Either I or Ba had to eat first and then wait for the turn. We had a little shop and needed to be open till late night and most of the business was around that time everyone would get out after the dinner to our place and would talk. So, We had to do it in turns. When I went to Kathmandu for my education, they had lost the one who would come and ask if he/she wants turn.
Oh! that makes me more sentimental.

This thanksgiving, I realized that how many chairs are there in the whole world which are empty. How many eyes are there waiting for the kids to come back. The families the friends ...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Birth DAy mtv

Mtv was launched on Aug. 1, 1981.
I think its presence has inspired a generation or a generation inspired its launch. In anyway, it is(/WAS) a part of (american) life.

I was able to get chance to see some clips of MTV when it was summer vacation of 95 (highschool). I think that was my first encounter with it. I liked the style at that time. So, after the morning show of Nepal Television, I  used to rotate the channel gear to search for MTV. It was not cable version so  was very unclear (with many white noise) . I  remember  as it became more sunny it used to be more dimmer to my B/W TV.

Happy Guru Purnima

I used to be cheered on this particular day at Lagan. I have lived for nearly Eight years at DD and Bhinaju's Home at Lagan. They had really treated me like a family member. Actually I was admitted as a family member. Every important decision was done in presence or after asking me. A kind of respect not every human beings can receive. When you feel that you are being respected and that you have been highly trusted, you can not go wrong. Even if you go wrong, their respect and love keeps you straight.
Apart from my family at hetauda, they have really played an important role in my life and in my overall development.
I respect learning at theirs and wish myself a happy Guru Purnima.

These days are exam days for My Nephew and Neice. I would like to wish them a Happy Guru purnima and all the best!!!

July4!

July4!
July 4 is the American independence day! Celebrated all over the America.

There was a large fireworks in downtown Albany. It was raining throughout the day, and I was in the Campus worried by the rain. No body wants to get wet!
Around 8:30 the rain stopped!!! and fortunately I had brought the camera with me to my room..........
Great Great Great!!!
I am not alone, walking down to down-town to see the Fireworks!!! many people are driving to downtown Empire state building.
The rain started again, after 5 minutes, I was trapped in mid-way. I better go and see it, I decided.
At 9:15, it started
See the pics (by me) here.
See the clips (by me) here.
Due to t-strom and rain, the program was canceled in many places; but not here!

Well, I am not a student of social history, but I have read (but will not copy and paste from the wikipedia: No more copy, leave it to bookmarks like delicious does!).
Taste of independence is the greatest achievement of the Human behavior.
If you are interested, please follow this link to see what is July 4th.
In anyway, we have been celebrating various things without learning the meaning of that particular occasion: Celebrating this might be Supposed under "one more is added", sounds good?
Nepali people are, specially, very lucky to come across many such occasions. We have about half a dozen New Years, and countably infinite celebrations going around in the country for equal number of Holidays. May be, thats the reason why we are more "Social".
