Optical illusion
Is she rotating clockwise or anticlockwise?
I see different rotations:
When I am watching the video, I see clockwise rotation (i.e. the rotation from right to left); when I am reading, I can sense the rotation in anticlockwise direction.
Update Oct 19th 2007:
Watch carefully!
which part of your brain is more active?
If the lady appears to be spinning clockwise, its right part which is more active.
If the lady appears to be spinning anticlockwise, the left part is more active.
I am not convinced with these statements. However, agree that it is optical illusion.

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise (?) though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

oie mula chasma ko number badhau... I never saw the pic rotating in other direction you said. I saw what it was rotating i.e. counter-clockwise. hehhe
ReplyDeleteI saw clockwise rotation. How can you feel anti-clockwise rotation? Give me clue
ReplyDeleteI finally saw both rotations... It took a couple of times playing it through. I'm not quite sure how I managed to switch my perception... I even tried switching back and forth, but to no avail. The more I tried to make it seem it was going the opposite way, the more I focused on the direction I was seeing. The best way I can suggest seeing both is by looking away, clearing your head of the image and then looking again.
ReplyDeleteI saw both clockwise and anticlockwise rotation. First, I focussed on the screen and I saw only anticlockwise rotation. Then, I started reading your post and again viewed, but could not notice difference. However, when I scrolled the screen up and down by moving the right side scrollbar while focussing on the right hand side column, I suddenly switched my sight on the screen and saw the rotation going clockwise.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie contained both clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation. So, to ascertain that I replayed the movie. This time I noticed the girl rotating in clockwise direction. Earlier, in the same segment, the girl was moving in anti-clockwise direction.
My suggestion, to see the changes, move the scrollbar up and down focussing on scrollbar and then immidiately bring your sight to the rotating girl, you may notice some difference.
