Head on to ...

and tell me if it sounds interesting.
This would be an interesting application development project for someone who wants to try something new and creative.
Python is known for its simplicity and future belongs to it. How about developing htm and associated js applications in pyjama? because its working style is really summed up in the following diagram.
I have not tried it, but sounds fantastic. If you have some spare time, try it and tell me that you liked it!!!

Black Friday Shoppings: Sleeping Line in Best Buy
I know people being very very interested to buy on the Black Friday.
How is that one?
Sleep with tent in front of the Best Buy?
This picture was sent by one of my friend. The picture inside was also funny.
Guess what?
Due to the Economy, less people are supposed to buy stuffs on the Black Friday.
Any plans?

Amazing Turkey Size for Thanksgiving: Science on Daily life
I was amazed to learn that the size of turkey has been growing.
You can have an idea of what I am talking about by looking at the picture of turkey size...
The dramatic increase in size is evidence of how we are playing with the natural system to tune into our needs.
"Today's average Turkey weights 121 percent more than its 1929 ancestors "
(picture from wired science)
I will call it Turkey Science
USDA Reports an Increase in the Average Weight of a TurkeyIsn't that amazing?

Where in Earth is Madagascar? (inspired by Escape 2 Africa (2008) Movie)
The movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008) is really great movie.
You can see the preview over here:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0479952/
It took me a while to think about where in Earth that place is.
So, I thought, it might be interesting to locate in Google Earth!

Nepal Tourism advertisement on BBC
The decision to run advertisement in BBC is not that old. It can be seen that the advertisements are just to supplement the maintenance cost.
I saw the advertisement by Nepal Tourism Board on the Asia section of BBC news. This is good!
If Nepal gets stable political system, then imagine how it can prosper just by tourism...

Promote and Demote in Google Search Engine: SearchWiki

I did know that you could note the search results, they will record your web history and such. Today I witnessed the promote/demote feature in Google Search!!!
Try searching some word in google while you are logged in...
This is an interesting feature, just like thumbs up feature in stumbleupon, buzz in yahoo, digg, delicious and such and such. This can be helpful for searching while people can play with this too...
I had not noticed that feature.
(evidently, they have erased my ajabgajab blog from result ... )
Well, didn't like the result?
Delete it!

More Data: Gmail Labs has colorful themes
Gmail is the best!
I was kinda excited to see what they had done with new feature of the themes in Gmail.
But wait...
Don't they already have my address info?
(I am surprised by the data storing tendency of Gmail...)
Yahoo stored my location while I was browsing for weather by zip code, and Gmail wants my city.
:)
More targeted advertisements on panel???
Who is clicking on them anyway?

Northern Hemisphere: Ready for Winter?
Now it has started to become colder and colder...
It already feels like December.
Northern Hemisphere: Are you ready for the Winter???
I looked into my closet and suitcase to find the warmer clothes. Now I am ready for the snow storms and 40 inches of snow.
This reminds me of the following joke...

Smarter No Script: Goodbye ClickJacking
No Script is one of my favorite. Makes me feel good while browsing.1. It blocks un-necessary elements for me 2. Makes me more secure against any unknown activities
Now more...
as they claim: No clickjacking
I just experienced this one while I was blog hopping...
I wanted to shout to my friend that "I was there!"
(never mind, I have stripped off my vista look: no decoration I need performance)
Thumbs up to no script team!

Vestigial Organs of Gmail ...
Getting Gmail Account was something nice back in around 2005: for me.
One of my friend got Gmail by invitation and I was kinda jumping into it.
At that time yahoomail, hotmail and rediffmail were in my view. I didn't see Gmail coming.
Now since Gmail has been beta (forever: ha ha) and have been made available freely. One does not need any invitation.
So, invitation feature in the gmail looks like vestigial organ.
Vestigial organs are those organs which found its use in previous stage of evolution but are no longer being used.
So,Invite a friend feature should be discarded.
Google! Just a suggestion.
I know you have a lot of smart guys in there.

New.Opportunities @ Space : Part 2
I am presenting the memories from my old page about Bremen, Germany.
Originally written on Date: 7th Dec. 2003
In Bremen:
I attended the UN/IAF workshop from 25 to 27 sep. jointly organized by them on the theme “Education and Capacity building in space technology for the benefit of Developing countries” with an emphasis on remote sensing applications. The participants presented papers and discussed under two categories ‘education’ & ‘application’ of space technology like how to use the remotely sensed data from Earth observation satellites to address issues of social & economic importance in such areas and land use management, the management of renewable & non renewable resources, disaster management &migration, global health and agricultural management, etc… The participants also emphasized that remote sensing is an essential tool to support the efforts to achieve sustainable development and capacity building in developing countries.
From the experiences, I could notice that remote sensing is a rapidly growing technology.
In the application of the remote sensing technology, education plays a pivotal role because without the expert human resources, the technology cannot run.
Some of the participants presented experiences of successful implementation and operational use of the technology including the continuous development of human resources.
The cost and access of data, involvement of decision makers, peaceful use of space were other hot topics of discussions.
The social events organized by the local organizing committee revealed the historical importance of Bremen City. I was greatly surprise to know that it is like our Katmandu but the difference is that Bremen has implemented the technology of 21st century including the satellite technology and also has preserved its own identity with regard to the ancient places.
The only problem we faced around the city was the language problem. The people of Bremen didn’t speak English and we could not speak Deutsch! . The communications problem was so interesting that we enjoyed it with their hearty welcomes and their lovely behaviour.
From 29th September to 3rd October there was an exciting event: International Astronantical Congress 2003 (IAC 2003).
More than 300 European students, including Canadian and Japanese students supported by ESA & IAF were participating in the 54th congress.

Quantum of Solace James Bond Movie 2008 online
I found the Quantum of Solace James Bond Movie 2008 online.
The quality is not so good, but you will not regret watching it.
The links is:

After watching the movie, you can feel how craig is fit into the character. Moreover, one can also realize how nice the Casino Royale was.

I am presenting the memories from my old page about Bremen, Germany.
Originally written on Date: 7th Dec. 2003
On the month of July, there was a notice on our notice board forwarded by our head of the Department Prof. Dr. Lok Narayan Jha. It had invited applications for participation in the annual space congress organized by International Astonautical Federation (IAF) for The International Astonautical Congress "IAC 2003 space congress" to be held in Bremen, Germany [29th Sept- 3rd Oct 2003]. After consulting with my Thesis supervisor Prof. Dr. Uday Raj Khanal, I applied with reference to the notice. After the selection process, I was selected as a “representative student of T.U.”
On 11th September evening there was a call for me from the Netherlands. It gave one of the best news in my life “you have been selected.” Actually the notification had been send to me by 1st Sept but I had not checked my e-mail. So, I could not respond the mail, and thus was phoned by Dorothea Czernik. On the phone she told me many things and asked to arrange the things if I was interested. Surely I was interested.
Background of the program
The European space agency (ESA) provided the opportunity under the student participation program. The sponsorship, of non European student, was only for 6 non European student from developing countries. There were altogether 5 who could participate under this program. Among them one each was from Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt and two from Nepal including me and my colleague Mr. Nabin Paudel.
After I could manage all the paper/official works, I departed to Bremen via Doha and Munich. It was my first time and I cannot describe my words how was I feeling. During this phase all my relatives and friends helped and encouraged me. I am thankful to them all. Finally it took about 20/24 hours to reach Bremen.

Entrecard: Survived one year, what next?
It has been some eight month since I joined the Entrecard system. (Yes, I was deleted by mistake, once.)
My first take is : It is good for bloggers. Good in the sense that it brings the visitors. Whether they stay or fly away in 2 seconds, thats up to the blogger. For my case, my articles are pretty short (in general) and are just meant to throw stones to the silent pond. Just rambling. I am not a professional blogger and never have intended to be one. Just as a part of hobby. It has helped me to improve my writing habits and support some cause. However, I can be worried about my PR and be excited by my alexa.
Entrecard is good because it brings you new friends and there can be ways to discover new blogs in the spare time.
After surviving the first year, it is now looked with some more respect(?). Specially because it survived. Survival for one year means it survived the cold of the winter and heat of the summer. Meanwhile other system collapsed. It is holding on. I don't know how Darwin's theory of survival of fittest fits here, it looks something different. The System could simply have gone in snap or be picked up by some giants, but it is surviving! So survival may mean leap towards being the fittest.
Congratulations !!!
The question is what next?

Change.gov : Change has come!
I take myself and my generation as lucky enough to witness too many historical moments in the single life span.
My country has gone through huge changes in past 20 years, See the history of Nepal on wikipedia (I am not giving the link ;) ).
The topic is change.gov, a web site by president elect team.
Immediately after being elected as the first African American President of the USA, Obama has set up some nice moves. (However, he has to be careful enough not to make it look like third term of Clinton, if not third term bush...)
Some activities are needed of course, to make people think that the change is coming. A hope.
Change.gov is one of such nice moves!
What do you think, please post some comments?

Warnings of Conflicts: Spybot and Ad Aware
I know, they work that way. One anti virus sees another one as potential threat. I had read that the windows defender scans firefox as potential risk. The world is like that.
The current discussion is about the conflict between the Spybot Search and Destroy and the Lavasoft Ad Aware softwares. I have them in my computer for more than year by now.
I have been using Ubuntu, so coming back to windows makes me crazy. Because, the updates and everything line up and makes me feel that the computer no longer belongs to me. They just want to make me wait for few hours so that they will be protecting me. Oh, ya!
I was trying to scan/update the spybotS&D, just in case. I came across the following message:
(you can click on the picture to see the larger view )
"Ignore to now longer ..."???
Moreover, the message is just intended to create a sense of panic for average users. When I visited the site, it just said:
I like Spybot S&D, but these kind of mistakes ???

The Discontinuity in the Chain | Obama !
The election is over. The results are up.
I have read the news and the follow ups to learn that "Obama is seen as the true world leader".
How long do you expect the oath for the president of the powerful nation?
Here it is:
Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:
Obama, congratulations!!!
The challenges are ahead, rising to the top is only half of the job. You know better than I.

I am up, Ubuntu 8.10 | Firefox still crashes for more than 20 tabs
The Open Office 3.0 is available!
I still do not have it for ubuntu (I have downloaded for the windows).
By the way, I have upgraded Ubuntu 8.04 -> 8.10. Took me one hour through the connection.
I want the following out of the box: right now...
I have noticed some inherent problems with the system. As it is not working properly for some cases like sudden log out, and same while trying to open n number of tabs at the same time in firefox 3.x
where n >12 and x = y; y =current version available in 8.10.
My problem is that if windows can open 12 or more tabs at the same time, why not you ??? (Dear Ubuntu.)
May be on saturdays, I will try to see if I will format it. Depends, I don't have some spare hours to get it done.
:(
However, I would recommend you to try it.

Day Light Savings: What time is it now?
I tried to sleep late. Looked into the at&t mobile to find that it was 10 AM.
I became proud of myself. I said "nice!" It had been very long time since I slept till 10AM in the Sunday Morning.
My Ubuntu was showing me that it was 9AM. I thought, hell! they forgot to fix the daylight savings into updates or so. They have not been able to update openoffice 3.0 for me too. I could, however, see that there was update available. I thought it might be the daylight savings update for my computer. It said openoffice update failed! That means either they have not fixed the daylight saving case or at&t was fishy!
The WMHT station is playing in the background said me it was 9AM!!!
That was enough!!!
I looked into msnbc.
I was then convinced that at&t was down!
And, it is confirmed !!
