Wow!

I had commented on probloggger about my dis-satisfaction of having flash-enabled map of where the visitors come from. Pics are far better.
At that time, I was simply impressed by the feedjit.
(Let me drag little, ha ha: may be feedjit people will read it too!)
But, however, feedjit also has some limitations (I am not going to discuss that in here).
In the case of clustrmap, yes, it is free and nice. Thumbs up, but hey... what is the meaning of having huge dot at the center of the map which overlaps with others.
Features you can add:
  • See what the visitors visited/accessed.
  • Instead of having huge dots, you can have heat map or color coded dots.
  • zoom-able map
I think you guys are already busy with maintaining such good map, but those additional features will make it best one!

GOOD LUCK!

HAMRO CIRCLE: Active Nepali Blogs

http://hamrocircle.blogspot.com/
The concept behind the site is the fact that there are some directories in the internet, but they lack updates. They do not care whether the blog has not been updated for centuries or not. That can not be very informative listing. Specially because there are a lot of people wasting time to seek out updated blogs who end up visiting some semi-dead blogs.

HAMRO CIRCLE is an attempt to have short list of our favourite Nepali blogs.
The site simply features blog-roll concept in Blogspot. It is mere a collection of Active Nepali Bloggers. I must warn, however, that some blogs which are famous enough have not been listed there because they are not blog, but rather are working as news agency. (I can not remain without praising their efforts. but, they are not blogs anymore.)

So, if you are Nepali blogger, please bookmark the site: HAMRO CIRCLE.

Having Nepali flag on the Blog

I love my country's flag. So does everyone else.
The specialty of the flag being the fact that it is the only triangular flag in the world.
Whenever I go to international gatherings, I can see people being excited to meet with a people from Nepal. The concept is that Nepal is very very hilly and I have come from very remote place of the world. Well, yes and no!
We have been kept at distance from the rest of the world in terms of development and technology. BUT however, we have been trying to creep out such differences.

I feel always glad to explain the meaning of my flag.
The Triangle shape represents the mountains, the blue border represents the peace and red color signifies the love. The sun and moon are indicators of time and the overall theme runs something like this: Our mountainous country will exist with peace and love forever: whenever there are sun and moon in the sky.
NEPAL: Never Ends Peace and Love.

Well, the recent situation may not be great enough, but I can not prevent myself from bearing the pride of being Nepali.

University gets new life each semester

I was in the University this afternoon. Today marks the last day of our summer and Tomorrow will mark the first day of the Fall semester for Undergraduates. For Graduates, however, the class will begin after a week; because of the Comps.
Last week, I was touched by the visit of parents of a student. The parents were excited to visit the department and to see the room in which their son was going to get his class. The mom asked him,"Is the class big?" The feelings and excitements of their family made the second floor to glow more than ever.
I remembered my parents and their hopes and expectations when I first went into school.
University is like a crop field which gets a new life every semester.

Dear Friend: Did I confuse you a lot?

I was in USA, for you.
I was supposedly having a vast amount of internet access and source of local knowledge.
You asked me a lot of questions. Yea, I can not be that busy that I can not get small amount of time to compose a reply to you! Actually, you got some of my Email replies. Yea, you got excited at some point to get replies. But, may be your expectations were little higher. may be I have not yet achieved the glory of writing things clearly. I swear: I tried my best. May be that was not sufficient. Moreover, I could not get the definite answer you wanted to hear; but enumerated a lot of ways. A lot. Just enough to make the situation more messy looking and complicated.
I am sorry.
Now you are in USA. Welcome to USA. And hope that you will be pressing your field more efficiently. I hope our next one will get clearer answers.
I am glad that you are here.

Add Gadgets in Blogger: Blogspot

I was playing with my blog this afternoon and realized that add new element has been worked out by the blogger team.
Exploring the feature, I could realize that finally they are doing something.

Last month's draft option was also a nice feature added recently under drafts mode. Using the huge feedback from users, they had enabled simple option: write it now and schedule it for later date. That is nice. I hope the same kind of feature will come up in gmail too. So that we can compose message and set the time of delivery for later date.

Palai Palo: Another Place for fun

Amit, Basant and I decided that there should be some place for us to put the educative you-tube videos. And , moreover discuss about these. Just to have fun.
Palai Palo is our joint attempt.

Actually I was inspired by the site called "... guys named rob".
So far, we have not been able to do excellent job like they do; but it is OK.
We are having fun. Our attempt is to have fun and to see how far this goes. Since it is updated every week, one of us will be posting video. And this goes in cycle. So far My turn is after 2 weeks. I had done 3 while Basant was in Nepal and Amit did 3 while I was in Brazil or preparing my work for the conference.

Anyways, If you are from Nepal; a student of Science and have confidence I would like you to start your own such stuff. It is fun, and may be invite us for discussion.

Which Language Do you think and dream in?

Which Language Do you think and dream in?

What influences the dream and thinking is deep rooted in the mind. Somewhere, where no microscope can see!
(??? I know it makes no sense, but wanted to write it.)
Remember people having dreams of childhood?

An incident of taking oath in hindi by the vice president of Nepal was the cause of fierce debate and violence in some part of Nepal. When it comes to language, it is really hard issue to take stand on. Specially when he was supposed to take care of 25million+ people of New Nepal.

Site Hoppin is formally dead! Entrebar rocks!

One of the sensational movement was Sitehoppin. In which one was able to surf different sites indexed and tagged by the owner and users.
In the beginning, I liked it a lot. I could just lazily stare at my LCD, while the browser hops; and if anything interesting catches me, open in new window with Shift+click.
I do have a nice account at sitehoppin:
http://sitehoppin.com/User:Nabinkm
And , as per indication, I received 3K visits (ooo).
I can announce the death of sitehoppin as Entrecard team have revealed the Entrecard Toolbar for Firefox:

How many are sitehoppin, yet?

Hello World!

I have been subscribed into the daily dose of the "picture of the day" series of the wikipedia. The pictures are (usually) stunningly beautiful.
Today, I received this picture.
"A young paper wasp female (Polistes gallicus)".
While looking into the picture, I was thinking about the impact factor of the picture. Looking into the new living being coming into my world is really wonderful! She has no idea about what kind of world she is entering into. Soon, she will need to learn the tools of survival as the world goes for survival of the fittest.
If you would like to subscribe to the wikipedia picture of the day, go to:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and enjoy the daily dose by Email.
