Evolution Time: Darwin Online!

Our life is so short that we can not take inference out of life time observation. When we die, may be we are the most confused ones. We have no idea on "why???" even moments before we die. And eventually we die. Birth and death are two fixed points of our life.
(This is going philosophical... lets see.)
There are always some big questions to ask.
What propagates is the knowledge (and bias) and cultural memories

What was Google doing with My Firefox?

With trust upon the google pack, Firefox came and replaced previous version. I installed it and continued to use it.
Then started the problems of freezing from time to time. (2GHz and 2 GB Machine, Even when no scanning/heavy process was on the background.)
Frustrating, Right?
I found that I was kinda moving towards the Opera and or Flock Browsers, but since I have 20 add-ons (which I love); I was sad that FF was getting slow or having problems.
Then, one day I started to see whats going on!
When I installed Firefox from Google pack, it was 23 MB. I was amazed to see the size.
I was really surprised to learn the size more than anything else.
Because I knew that it used to be small like about 5 MB or so.

My initial motivation, to download and install firefox, when I was using dial-up in Nepal, was the fact that IE used to take century to update while FF got its way preety quickly. Moreover, it was safer.

Enough is enough!
I determined that I must get rid of the FF from google pack and get pure one.

Now, when I installed it from getfirefox.com {which is re-directed to (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)} ; It is only 7.4 MB as shown. Moreover, there is no freezing problems or anything else with all extensions and ad-ons intact.

So the question is: What the rest of 15.6 MB was doing in my computer???
I am scared with an extra exe file that can be associated into FF by them.

Moreover, I am running Norton Security Scanner and Spyware Doctor etc from the google pack.
Shall I continue using that???
:(

(I am not expert on other kind of memory test or else, just a normal user. My point is under the similar situation, simple one works.)

NEPAL TELECOM : : WEB-SMS down on load shedding ?

If you are registered user of Nepal Telecom, you can use the web-sms service for free!
However there is limitation of 10/20(?) message per day. Fair enough.
But...
Many of the times, I attempt and I can not access the web sms service of Nepal Telecom.
Some of my friends suggested that the towers and hence the service of Nepal Telecom is down whenever there is Load Shedding. Because the towers do not have generators.
Simple!
No service.
There is no customer service awareness, just live in dark and wait for the lights to come.

As written on http://websmsnew.ntc.net.np/websmss/:
The Short Message Service (SMS) is the ability to send and receive text messages to and from mobile telephones. The text can comprise of words or numbers or an alphanumeric combination. SMS was created as part of the GSM Phase 1 standard. Each short message is up to 160 characters in length when Latin alphabets are used, and 70 characters in length when non-Latin alphabets such as Arabic and Chinese are used. When a mobile user sends SMS to other mobile user, the message is at first sent to SMSC server which then stores and forwards the message to respective destination.

Web-SMS is a new web based service launched by Nepal Telecom in order to facilitate its valued customers. Valid Nepal Telecom mobile or internet subscribers can register to this service and send SMS to Nepal Telecom mobile users. You do not need to own mobile for using this service.

There is nothing stated about load shedding, in ideal world there would be no such thing as load shedding. (Sounds Funny?)

Stephen Hawking on some Big Questions about our universe

Professor Stephen Hawking asks some Big Questions about our universe -- How did the universe begin? How did life begin? Are we alone? -- and discusses how we might go about answering them.

Stephen Hawking is perhaps the world's most famous living physicist. A specialist in cosmology and quantum gravity and a devotee of black holes, his work has probed the origins of the cosmos, the nature of time and the universe's ultimate fate -- earning him accolades including induction into the Order of the British Empire. To the public, he's best known as an author of bestsellers such as The Universe in a Nutshell and A Brief History of Time, which have brought an appreciation of theoretical physics to millions.

Though the motor neuron disorder ALS has confined Hawking to a wheelchair, it hasn't stopped him from lecturing widely, making appearances on television shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Simpsons -- and planning a trip into orbit with Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic. (He recently experienced weightlessness aboard Zero Gravity Corporation's "Vomit Comet.") A true academic celebrity, he uses his public appearances to raise awareness about potential global disasters -- such as global warming -- and to speak out for the future of humanity: "Getting a portion of the human race permanently off the planet is imperative for our future as a species," he says.

Hawking serves as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, where he continues to contribute to both high-level physics and the popular understanding of our universe.

"We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special."

Blogger: Schedule Your Post http://draft.blogger.com/

Heard of recent time machine hype of google on April First?

Now you can do it!

At least in the case of Blog// and it is in the direction of future; not in reverse.

I came across the article on Blogger Buzz saying that we can schedule the post(Blogger Buzz: Blog List, Scheduled Post Publishing on Blogger in draft). Not bad. But there are already too many things to be worked with Blogspot.

Make useful NavBar:
The most stupid thing is the "Next Blog" link in there. It takes to some random blog, not impressive.
GOOGLE are you listening?
No one wants to use the nav-bar of blogspot because it is just a useless tool floating up there.
I removed it because it is there just to occupy the space.
It should be used to make some useful use of nav bar in blogspot.

Here are some ideas to get inspirations:
1: Delicious
2: Stumble upon
3: Digg
4: sitehoppin

The navigation should be based upon the category shuffled randomly or on user's choice.

CA Election in Nepal

Constituent Assembly Election for the first time in the history of Nepal.
People outside Kathmandu can not still believe that it is going to happen. The "trust" and mutual beliefs are way down.

Sometimes I think our generation is lucky (or doomed) that we have seen the most steepest part of transformation of the country.
Other parts of the world have passed this phase (may be) some hundred years ago.
I have seen Three kings, every kind of mass movements and up and down in Nepal. This window of time has engulfed everything which can be possibly put into formula. However, there are still many things yet to happen. We can not rule out any future possibilities and power play.

Will Nepali people be able to cast their future through this Election?

Nepali People: The life of the Nepalese in Qatar

Welcome to the real world.

With 266,000 people, and 100,000 more to come in 2008, the Nepalese in Qatar are about to become the first foreign community in this tiny Gulf country. They are also the first concentration of Nepalese outside Nepal and India. As soon as one steps off the plane from Kathmandu at Doha airport, one is struck by a certain kind of familiarity with the airport staff. The visitor to Qatar wonders at the number of young men speaking khas kura or wearing “Nepal” branded caps. In the streets of Doha, in shops, in shopping malls, in offices, in restaurants, on building sites, the Nepalese toil to earn their living and help their family at home...

Unskilled workers are usually put up in labour camps that is buildings rented by their company. The biggest concentration of labour camps is the Industrial Area, near Doha. Hundreds of thousands of men live there in camps where living conditions largely depend on the care the company takes of its workers. Some camps are well maintained, and even provide table tennis and snooker facilities. But the majority of them are overcrowded (up to 16 men to a room with three tiered bunk-beds), sometimes dirty and not suitable for men spending years abroad...

Before six hours:
The title was:

Now Featuring on the same page:

Seven dead in Nepal poll violence

The title has been changed.

See what the changes of title can have impact on the reader.
The first title "kill" creates a sensation the second title is a News report.

News media has to be aware of what they are writing about.

The mathematical theory of surprise!

The mathematical theory of surprise!

The surprise function is directly proportional to the log of the Probability.
Lower the probability is higher is the surprise.

There are some prior probability of things being happened. Or, chances of occurring certain things in certain ways. At least we have developed some kind of mental picture of forth coming events.

But there are always certain(non zero) probabilities of happening un-expected events. We are surprised when we encounter such events.

'tsunami' on Sun

Scientists have observed 'tsunami' on Sun.

Astronomers have captured the "first" movie of a solar “tsunami” in the Sun’s atmosphere .

It was glimpsed by Nasa’s STEREO spacecraft . STEREO mission consist of two spacecrafts revolving around the Sun to reveal it's 3D image.

Tsunami on the Sun is a wave of pressure that sweeps across the Sun. It is induced by a huge explosion near or on the surface of the Sun, such as a coronal mass ejection or flare, which causes a pressure to propagate outwards in a circular pattern.

Gmail: April Fool! Introducing Gmail Custom Time

I noticed around 11:30PM in the 31st march that there was some kinda new-link on the upper right corner. Assuming that it launched new service, I clicked on that. It was famous 404 error!
Then, after a while I realized that there may be some help feature available, I went on to the "help" the indication was in there was that it was a joke.
I was asking to myself how can they possibly lunch the joke before it is April 1st???
However, now I can access the page (pictured above), the contents are pretty creepy. Now, I believe it is a joke. Last year's joke was hilarious.
Not impressed, this time!
